Scandic Go Sankt Eriksgatan 20 has opened
After extensive renovation, expansion and positioning, the 234-room Scandic Go has now opened at Fridhemsplan in Stockholm. Scandic Go is Scandic's new brand for the growing economy segment and fits the hotel property with its central location very well.
Pandox acquired the former Best Western Fridhemsplan in early 2023 with a clear vision of how it could be developed, especially given its size and strong location at Fridhemsplan, one of the major gateways to central Stockholm.
There was great interest among hotel operators to lease the hotel property. The decision fell on Scandic with its new brand Scandic Go, which has ambitious investment plans in the fast-growing economy segment. There is already a Scandic Go on Upplandsgatan in central Stockholm, which has quickly become very popular.
During the summer of 2024, the parties signed a long-term, revenue-based lease with a guaranteed minimum level. After a joint renovation and extension, which included the addition of 13 new rooms, the hotel is now ready to welcome guests.
The key elements of the Scandic Go concept are a good price, inviting design, convenient self-service and breakfast and hot food at all hours of the day. The hotel rooms have a young design, smart solutions and clever storage options, which are in demand by a new target group of leisure travelers who prioritize the city's entertainment and events rather than the hotel stay itself. The smallest rooms are only 4 square meters and there are also “Cabin rooms” without windows.
- “We are very pleased that Scandic Go Sankt Eriksgatan 20 is now opening. The hotel is a clear example of our active value creation as a property owner. We acquired the property in early 2023 and have since then added to, renovated and positioned the hotel product together with Scandic. It's exciting to be part of Scandic's expansion in the economy segment and the brand fits both the hotel property and its central location very well,” says Tobias Ekman, Head of Property Management Nordics at Pandox.
